The Social Innovation Tournament recognises and supports the best European social entrepreneurs. Each year it is organised in a different country to reward and sponsor European entrepreneurs whose main objective is to generate a social, ethical or environmental impact.

All projects compete for the 1st and 2nd General Category and Special Category Awards of EUR 50.000 and EUR 20.000 respectively. The prizes are awarded by a jury of specialists from the academic and business world.

Projects often relate to combating unemployment, marginalising disadvantaged communities and promoting access to education in a wide range of fields, from education and health care to the natural or urban environment, using new technologies, new systems and new processes.

The tournament runs in two rounds. A selection committee, composed mainly of experts from the EIB Group in innovation, environment and other relevant disciplines, selects 15 finalists. The finalists are invited to a mentor training camp to give them the necessary guidance to finalize their proposals.

Our colleague Jordina Arcal participated in the impact training sessions in Amarante (Portugal) on the 11th and 12th, where we shared experiences with 15 incredible projects from all over Europe. All of us want to do our bit to achieve a better society.

In the final event, all finalists must present and defend their project before a jury of specialists in social innovation.

This year’s Social Innovation Tournament will take place in Dublin, Ireland. Finalists from all SIT editions become members of the SIT alumni network. As members, they benefit from numerous training opportunities, such as (i) applying to participate in SIT Impact Bootcamp, a full-time executive training course focusing on expansion, launch and engagement with investors, (ii) joining the Innovation Grants programme, (iii) participating in conferences across Europe and networking with investors, venture philanthropists and foundations that can help scale up your project.

At MJN we are very excited that they recognise our project as one of the most outstanding in terms of its social impact. For us, raising awareness of epilepsy and working to improve inclusion, remove stigma and improve social awareness is part of our DNA.

We keep talking about epilepsy!
