All my entries so far have been related to events, feelings or situations that had a connection with my life. Today I want to talk about a colleague who, from my point of view, is an example of overcoming of what life brings us. Because life is as it is; it is our spirit of wanting to enjoy it that drives us to achieve happiness.
JC has that spirit. A cheerful, hard-working, enthusiastic and incredibly adaptable spirit. When he was a teenager, he suffered from a “rare” disease (no one ever told him what the disease was), which resulted in a 67% disability diagnosed by the age of 18. His disability makes the left part of his body not to respond effectively. And later, epilepsy that he has controlled today. We could think that he has all the ballots to lead an unhappy life. Nothing could be further from the truth, he has more thrust than me. He takes advantage of all the inventions that exist to be able to do what any other person, for example, an adapted car that he himself drives.
Happiness is within us. It’s not the hackneyed message, which is currently so trendy, that you have to be happy yes or yes. It is an attitude towards life, a way of looking at things in a positive way. Of course, there are potholes and downturns. JC also has them and it is what makes him human and what makes him think that his attitude is imitable, that we can all learn from him, even, that when one falls, it is possible to get up again, if you want. Life is like that.
I don’t want to forget to mention in this entry the II Feira de Investigación sobre la Epilepsia, which I attended last May 23, and where I could finally meet in person Salva, who gave me the opportunity to write this blog. I am very grateful because, for me, writing has an important therapeutic function. I don’t know if it’s any use to you guys. Selfishly, I have to say that, for me, it is. It helps me to put into words what I feel and to see that nothing that happens to me is so horrible that I can’t live with it and, not only that, but it doesn’t prevent me from pursuing my dreams, taking care of my people and taking care of me or enjoying a pleasant walk at dusk. Life is like that.
If writing also helps you, contact us. Together we can help more people.
