An article by our contributor Irene Tarragó

As this is the first entry of the year, I will start by wishing you all the best for 2019, in all aspects.

I also take this opportunity to tell you that International Epilepsy Day is coming up, a joint initiative created by the International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE) and the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE). It is celebrated on the second Monday in February, which this year corresponds to the 11th of that month.

This year, to commemorate that day, there is a campaign in which we can all collaborate and make epilepsy better known around the world, that we are seen as normal people… Just share a photo of each of us with the tag #epilepsyday. The photos are displayed on an interactive map on the website.

I am asking you this because I believe that it is essential to advance in the knowledge of epilepsy, to normalize the treatment of the people who have it and the way in which we present ourselves to the world.  It would be wonderful if this request reached some famous person, well-known, and who helped us by putting his/her face and sticking up for epilepsy.
