BOARD MEETING IMPRESSIONS
We have just finished MJN‘s shareholders’ meeting, and I can only say that I am deeply impressed.
Thinking about how it all began—with a father’s determination to give his daughter with epilepsy a better quality of life, with very limited resources, driven by the power of love and the support of a group of people just as passionate as he was, who never hesitated—and seeing how far we have come, together with some of us who joined that journey, is truly remarkable. I already mentioned it during the meeting itself: I am driven more by my heart, by empathy, and by the desire to help than by rigorous thinking or analytical reasoning. And today, I feel even better than I did before deciding to collaborate with them. Because I know I am doing my small part to help people with epilepsy have a better life. And I know that, in many cases, without this device, that simply would not be possible.
There are still many people who do not believe that any device can predict seizures. But with all the trials currently being conducted, the following conclusions can be drawn:
- 53% of patients experience accidents during seizures.
- When using the device, the average rate of accidents is reduced to as little as 3% when the patient receives seizure alerts.
- There is an average reduction in accidents of between 64% and 80%.
- Between 87% and 93% of patients become completely accident-free.
There are still many people who do not believe that any device can predict seizures.
Thank you all, and I send you all my strength and encouragement to keep moving forward.
We are already getting ready for our vacation. We leave on July 1, so I wanted to write this now. This year we’re going to Galicia. Both of my sons were born there, and my eldest, in particular, is really looking forward to reconnecting with his roots, and for his daughters to get to know their father’s and uncle’s homeland well.
I’ll be celebrating my birthday there on July 3, and I’m hoping to enjoy a wonderful seafood feast.
A big hug to everyone.
