Back to the mjn-neuro offices and with energy to tell you new experiences. It has been my first year where I have been able to become independent in Girona and the reason for that city, how I have managed and what I have done.
To begin with, I was very clear that I wanted to go to Girona, as I had studied there for a while and I knew it quite well, for me it is a very quiet city and it sometimes looks like a town from which it treats people there and I saw that starting a new stage there as it made me excited and at the same time would help me.
I had like the need to be able to enjoy my autonomy and how I could organize myself with all the tasks that this entails: cooking, washing, going to college, studying…
I decided together with my parents to go to a residence that is in the center for the convenience of many things and I was also fine to go to study a higher cycle of Nutrition and Dietetics. In the residence I met people who went to my university and others who did not, but I also ended up taking with me, which, yes, at first it was very strange for me to live alone, but as I got to know friends and we were doing a group and I ended up enjoying living there.

At first it seemed strange not to be at my parents’ house, but then I got used to having more autonomy and being with more people helped me. Also as a group I started going out partying with those in the residence hall for a few days, going to make plans with them for Girona or staying in the residence hall together watching a movie, for example. I started to come less to Blanes because I preferred to be in Girona and what I was doing was finding one and the other was staying or it also depended on the plans we had in Girona.
Then in the cycle I was doing and at the same time I started to get along with people from the cycle, we got to know each other little by little and get along with some of them, despite being from different villages we were staying the same as we see each other in class.
To those in the group we did at the residence, as I got to know them and had a lot of confidence in them as I was telling them that I had epilepsy and how I had a seizure and what they should do if I had an epileptic seizure, everyone to whom I told them they didn’t tell me anything bad but the opposite they told me that if something ever happened to me they would already help me. With that I think that’s when you see if you can count on someone or not, and I can say I saw that I can trust them.

The funny thing about the residence where I lived is that some of us were from Catalonia and others from other parts of Spain such as Murcia, Galicia and Mallorca, but in the end, we made a group and you spoke Catalan to some and Spanish to others. What I would never have said that this would happen to me is that now we no longer live together and we talk about the fact that it is strange that we do not go to each other’s rooms, we do not go downstairs to cook meals together, because living in a residence you share spaces, customs and especially good times that we miss now…
