From our partner Irene Tarragó
The meeting of the Ordinary General Meeting of Partners of the Society Neuroserveis – Angels Inversiones (mjn-neuro) has just ended and the time has come to reflect on what was heard during it.
I am very grateful to mjn-neuro, for letting me be part of that great family since 2018 as a collaborator and since 2021 as a partner, although I already knew them before. Being a very small investor, but collaborating every month to make epilepsy visible, it seems to me that when I address you or write these entries for your blog, I am moving at home. I already consider you something of mine.
Your first device, mjn-SERAS, hooked me, made me fall in love. I have epilepsy and I am lucky to have it completely controlled with medication. But I know the reality of many people with epilepsy who, even with medication, do not control the seizures and continue to have them, causing them stress and fear of being alone or leaving the house or trying to lead a normal life. Their quality of life is very bad, because they cannot enjoy themselves. With this device, they have the peace of mind that the device will warn them of an imminent crisis and they will be able to take measures to avoid getting hurt or simply ask for help. This is very great, because your quality of life improves a lot.
Furthermore, it responds to an act of love from a father towards his daughter. A father who abandoned his professional career to dedicate himself solely and exclusively to the research and development of this device to improve the quality of life of his daughter and that of as many as possible.
Precisely, I am preparing a proposal to present to the Municipal Board of Hortaleza, requesting a Day Center for people with Alzheimer’s in our district. Your device, mjn-DREAMER, for early diagnosis is a very important contribution in the fight against Alzheimer’s, because if we are not going to cure it, we can provide treatments as soon as possible to stop the progression of the disease. Treating a brain damaged by 40% is not the same as treating it by 80%.
As for the mjn-VISOR “holter” device, a headband for performing EEG outside the hospital, I think it is sensational. Many people are greatly influenced by the mere fact of going to the hospital. Being able to do it in a Day Center, or in their usual Health Center is very good for them. Or I wonder if the possibility could be considered that a qualified person could go to your home to do it.
So congratulations for your work, for your research in these fields to try to improve people’s quality of life. I prefer not to see it as a business, but as something necessary and fair, as a small contribution on my part to society so that other people have a better life. Always through you, of course, but I love being part of it.
With your permission I have used your images.
